2 Timothy 1:5
I rejoice in the pure faith that I see in you. Remember that you are the third generation of a strong lineage of faith. The same unwavering persuasion that indwelt your grandmother Lois also resides in your mother Eunice and is now abundantly evident in you. (Mirror Bible)

Do you have experiences that make The Lord real for you?

If you read Genesis 22:1-13 (click the text and read it below), you will find the story of Abraham going to sacrifice his son. When this story is told, the focus is normally on Abraham. He was the father of faith. But look at Isaac for just a moment. Here is a 90+ year old man tying a young man to the altar.  Isaac wasn’t so young he did not understand what was going on. He was also not too young to stop Abraham or at least wrestle with him if he wanted to.  Isaac allowed Abraham to tie him on the altar and did not move.  Faith was not transferred to Isaac in his DNA, but I am sure he saw the faith of his father, day in and day out. Now it was his turn, isn’t it a great thing when, though you have in your lineage powerful men and women in the Lord, you find your own place in God.  What a blessing to move from the “God of my father/mother etc.” to “my Lord and My God”. What do you have to go through in order to experience that transition? Are you willing? To know God for yourself makes you dangerous to the enemy.

Please agree with me as I pray:

Father, I thank You for every experience I’ve had. I thank you for the scripture my father quoted to me all my life. “I have never seen the righteous forsaken nor his seed begging bread” I thank You for making provision for me when I couldn’t explain how or why. You were right there. I have read and heard about Jehovah Jireh but You have provided for me.  I have read and heard about Jehovah Nissi but You have been my banner.  I have read and heard about Jehovah Tsidekenu but You are my righteousness. I didn’t have to just read and hear about Jehovah Maccadeschem, You sanctified me. I don’t have to live a life where I just read and listen to other people talk about who You are. I can live a life, Father God, where You manifest Yourself in my life and You become real to me…

Genesis 22:1-13

Now it came to pass after these things that God tested Abraham, and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” 2 Then He said, “Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.” 3 So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son; and he split the wood for the burnt offering, and arose and went to the place of which God had told him. 4 Then on the third day Abraham lifted his eyes and saw the place afar off. 5 And Abraham said to his young men, “Stay here with the donkey; the lad and I will go yonder and worship, and we will come back to you.” 6 So Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife, and the two of them went together. 7 But Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, “My father!” And he said, “Here I am, my son.” Then he said, “Look, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?” 8 And Abraham said, “My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering.” So the two of them went together. 9 Then they came to the place of which God had told him. And Abraham built an altar there and placed the wood in order; and he bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, upon the wood. 10 And Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to slay his son. 11 But the Angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” So he said, “Here I am.” 12 And He said, “Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.” 13 Then Abraham lifted his eyes and looked, and there behind him was a ram caught in a thicket by its horns. So Abraham went and took the ram, and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son.
