Ephesians 5:2
And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma. (New King James Version)
Are you loving with the love of Jesus?
When you think about the love that Jesus has for you; what comes to mind? Probably how good it makes you feel. How safe and cared for. Does the fact that He died for you and the way that he died come to mind also? Jesus was in glory, took on the shell of fallen man, suffered, was persecuted, was betrayed and crucified. Jesus, because He is a part of the Trinity, understood the love God has for Him. What is more important, He understood and loves you with the same love God has for you. He walked in God’s love when He walked on this earth.
Romans 5:7-8 Now it is an extraordinary thing for one to give his life even for an upright man, though perhaps for a noble and lovable and generous benefactor someone might even dare to die. 8 But God shows and clearly proves His [own] love for us by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One) died for us. (Amplified Bible, Classic Edition)
You have to take on the same determination to walk in God’s love. Does it mean you may be persecuted, betrayed, crucified? Yes, Yes and Yes. No more hangings on crosses, but your flesh has to die. Stop feeling sorry for yourself because you have to go through now and again. Stop rebuking the devil every time something does not go your way.
Matthew 5:43-48 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor (fellow man) and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, [a]love [that is, unselfishly seek the best or higher good for] your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may [show yourselves to] be the children of your Father who is in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on those who are evil and on those who are good, and makes the rain fall on the righteous [those who are morally upright] and the unrighteous [the unrepentant, those who oppose Him]. 46 For if you love [only] those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do that? 47 And if you greet only your brothers [wishing them God’s blessing and peace], what more [than others] are you doing? Do not even the Gentiles [who do not know the Lord] do that? 48 You, therefore, will be perfect [growing into spiritual maturity both in mind and character, actively integrating godly values into your daily life], as your heavenly Father is perfect. Hold your head up because God has chosen you to show His love while you are in this world.
Please agree with me as I pray:
Father, when I think about Jesus from a human perspective, I stand in even more awe of Your love. Jesus acknowledged and sacrificed His life as a symbol of Your love for Him and for me. I can’t even imagine it. He saw His sacrifice as love. He obeyed You because He understood You loved Him and You loved me. Father, I know there is no sacrifice I can ever make on any day that could be mentioned in the same breath as the sacrifice Jesus made, but I know I still have sacrifices to make. I know You love me. So now, as I look at my life and I look at the things I go through every day; I want to see them as a way to show Your love for me and a way to show my love, Your way. I want to go through whatever You have placed in my path or I have placed in my path so I can become the person You ordained for me to be. Though Your love drives me, draws me, and keeps me safe and secure; Your love also requires me to grow up, learn to deal with each situation as it comes, and not have a pity party in the midst of every trial. I repent for my previous words, thoughts, and actions and I pray that You will continue to grow me up…
Father thank you for helping me to remain who I am even when others are unlovable….Yes Father to others as You love others!!! In Jesus Name!!!
