Are you progressing on your path to godliness?

There is a progression to develop the fruit of the spirit in your life. If you read 2 Peter 1:5-11, you will see the complete path.

  • God gave you a measure of faith that you needed for salvation. He then instructed you to grow your faith through prayer and obedience. If you do what He instructs, you will gain knowledge.
2 Peter 1:5 For this very reason, applying your diligence [to the divine promises, make every effort] in [exercising] your faith to, develop moral excellence, and in moral excellence, knowledge (insight, understanding). (Amplified Bible AMP)
  • Permit God to temper your knowledge and you won’t put debilitating pressure on yourself or others. Allow God to be God in your life. When you are under control, you wait for the Lord. You don’t run ahead. You also stay the course. You hold on and stay strong.
2 Peter 1: 6 And in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, steadfastness, and in your steadfastness, godliness, (Amplified Bible AMP)
  • Temperance leads to patience. There may be days when you fill like you can’t get it right. You may even feel discouraged. Don’t. Whom He loves He chastises. The Lord is working a greater weight of glory in your life. When you learn to be patient with yourself,  you will also be patient with others.
2 Peter 1: 7 and in your godliness, brotherly affection, and in your brotherly affection, [develop Christian] love [that is, learn to unselfishly seek the best for others and to do things for their benefit]. (Amplified Bible AMP)
  • If you patiently submit to God and resist the devil, God will transform you into His image, godliness will be seen in you.
2 Peter 1: 8 For as these qualities are yours and are increasing [in you as you grow toward spiritual maturity], they will keep you from being useless and unproductive in regard to the true knowledge and greater understanding of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Amplified Bible AMP)

Take the time to read and study the entire passage. Get excited about the treasure that is in your earthen vessel.

Please agree with me as I pray:

Father, I want to progress in You. I have accepted Your love, Your salvation, and a measure of faith. I want my faith to be stronger. You want me to increase my faith as well. You give me opportunities to become stronger in You, every day. I repent for not taking advantage of them all. Often, I caused myself to falter because my faith isn’t stronger. With lovingkindness, You compelled me to come. You continue to love me in the midst of my stumbles. Thank You for Your patience. Thank You for showing me the same patience You extend to me; I have to extend to myself and to others. Thank You for developing “love” in me. I’ve read about agape love, talked about it and taught on it. I am so much closer than I have ever been. I thank You for not giving up on me. I know the work You began in me; You will finish…
