Romans 5:6
God’s timing was absolutely perfect; humanity was at their weakest when Christ died their death. (We were bankrupt in our efforts to save ourselves.) (Mirror Bible)
Are you still trying to fix yourself?
Isn’t it funny how sometimes you think you can work out your own problems? Do you find yourself saying,
“As soon as I get myself together I’m going to:”
- Honor God.
- Go to church.
- Become a member of a ministry.
- Get saved.
- Seek the Lord more.
- Tithe.
- Do personal Bible study.
- … (Continue the list with your favorite excuses).
Have you realized, yet, you are not able to “get yourself together”? When you give yourself over to the Lord; He will get you together. As you go to Him in prayer; allow Him to wash over you; submit your activities and your actions to Him; and yield to him in humble obedience, He gets you together. He shows you what He wants you to change. He shows you what He wants you to stop doing or start doing. He then gives you the faith and the grace to submit to what He has sown you, so He can fix what needs to be fixed.
Psalm 143:6,8 I stretch forth my hands unto thee: my soul thirsteth after thee, as a thirsty land. Selah. 8 Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee. (King James Version)
Psalm 51:7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. (King James Version)
Choose today to decide you will stop trying to change yourself, get yourself together or fix yourself. Stretch your hands to the Father and say, “O Lord, fix me.”
Please agree with me as I pray:
Father, I thank You for allowing me to bring my proud, battered, self-involved, beaten, and sinful self to You. Thank You for purging me and continuing to wash me so I will be white as snow. I thank You, Father God, for loving me so much and calling me to a place where I could come unashamed, just as I was, and You welcomed me with open arms. Thank You for continuing to guide me, correct me, and give me clarity. I saw some of the things I wanted to change about me You wanted to keep. I also saw some of the things I wanted to keep, You either wanted to do some alterations to or get rid of all together. I am so glad I have stopped trying to fix myself. Now I allow You to identify what needs to be added, changed or taken away. Then You do the work as I allow You to. Father, I submit entirely to You for Your pruning, molding, and shaping. I know when You have completed the work You began, I will be the exact image You saw when You created me…
