Mark 10:48
And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.
Who is holding on to the end of your rope?
When you are desperate, no one can stop you from getting the help you need. Why is it you have to do everything you know to do, first? Do you find the answer when you read all the books, watch all the videos, talk to all the spiritual people, and even talk to the non-spiritual people? Usually the answer is no. Finally, you say, “I give up”. Then you go to God. It is unfortunate that most of the time, you have to get to the end of your rope. When you’ve exhausted yourself, which, by the way, is the best place to be. He is there.
2 Corinthians 12:9-10 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong. (New King James Version NKJV)
As you spend more time in His presence, you can get to the place where you go directly to Him, first. You will identify your weakness, seek Him for answers and wait to hear what He has to say; without all the detours.
Proverbs 3:5-7 Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. 6 In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths. 7 Be not wise in your own eyes; reverently fear and worship the Lord and turn [entirely] away from evil. (Amplified Bible, Classic Edition AMPC)
Whether you go to Him first or after trying to fix it on your own, you need to be at the end of you. Otherwise, you will still try to “help” God resolve your situation. God is your answer, you know it; but most of the time, you don’t act like it. However, when you are in an extreme place, you are like a fanatic. You won’t allow anything to get in your way. It is sad you have to be overwhelmed before you call on God, but He is there, at the end of your rope. What a powerful weapon.
Please agree with me as I pray:
Father, I repent for thinking there was a way I could fix any problem on my own. I know You are the ultimate and complete answer to everything even though I don’t always act like it. Thank You for bringing me back from wherever I was and reminding me my desperation for You should be continual; not just when I am overwrought with anxiety. I should seek You, for Your answers, for Your love, and Your guidance. I don’t have all the information needed to make the best decision unless I get them from You. I don’t want to have to be at the end of my rope. I want to come to You, at all times, for all things…
