Do you have on your breastplate?

This question is necessary because of your heart. Your feelings and emotions can take you on ride only the presence of God can get you off of.

Jeremiah 17:9-10a “The heart is deceitful above all things And it is extremely sick; Who can understand it fully and know its secret motives? 10 I, the Lord, search and examine the mind, I test the heart”. (Amplified Bible AMP)

You are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus! Salvation made you right, not because of anything you did, but because of what Jesus did. It is your responsibility to put on the breastplate to guard your heart.

Proverbs 4:23 Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. (New Living Translation NLT)

The heart is the soulish realm where all your desires reside, both good and bad. You don’t have to give in to fleshly desires that lead you astray.

Philippians 4:8-9 Finally, believers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute; if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think continually on these things [center your mind on them, and implant them in your heart]. 9 The things which you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things [in daily life], and the God [who is the source] of peace and well-being will be with you. God promises He will be with you. If you find yourself meditating on the wrong things, you can say what David said.

Father, I thank You for giving me what I need to guard my heart. I repent for not wearing my breastplate at all times. My emotions have ruled me, and I know I cannot afford to live that life ever again. How I feel can affect my actions if I allow it. However, You have taught me, my feelings cannot govern my response to the situations in my life. What does the Lord require? What does the Lord desire? What would bring the Lord glory? I must ask myself these questions before I act. It does not matter what I feel. What I know by the spirit, though it is not always easy, is what will bring me life…
