Matthew 4:10
Then Jesus said to him, Begone, Satan! For it has been written, You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him alone shall you serve. (Amplified Bible)

Will you end up standing next to a pile of ashes?

What is the motivation behind the things you do?

Psalm 40:8 “I delight to fulfill your will, my God, for your living words are written upon the pages of my heart.” (The Passion Translation TPT)

There is a comparison that is made in Christendom, a “good idea” versus a “God idea”. It’s important to make the distinction. Sometimes your accomplishments may give you accolades and praise. They may even bless people. The key is the motivation behind it. Did you work to give God glory or to gain fame and fortune?

Philippians 2:3 Be free from pride-filled opinions, for they will only harm your cherished unity. Don’t allow self-promotion to hide in your hearts, but in authentic humility put others first and view others as more important than yourselves. (The Passion Translation TPT)

The devil is good at hiding himself behind what seems to be good and making you think it must be good because of the response you get. Know whatever he gives you is not worth the price you will pay for it and it won’t last throughout eternity.

1 Corinthians 3:13-15 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.14 If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. (, KJV)

Don’t give in to the desire for earthly fame, fortune, and power. In the end, God will burn up everything that is not of Him.

Philippians 2:13 [Not in your own strength] for it is God Who is all the while effectually at work in you [energizing and creating in you the power and desire], both to will and to work for His good pleasure and satisfaction and delight. (Amplified Bible, Classic Edition AMPC)

You want to live your life to serve a God who will give you vision and work, in you and through you.

2 Peter 1:3 Everything we could ever need for life and godliness has already been deposited in us by his divine power. For all this was lavished upon us through the rich experience of knowing him who has called us by name and invited us to come to him through a glorious manifestation of his goodness. (The Passion Translation TPT)

You want your work to bring Him glory and reign throughout eternity.

Please agree with me as I pray:

Father, I know I have had plenty of good ideas I thought would bless You. Though they were good ideas, I know if they were not Your ideas, they will be ashes. I repent for asking You to bless my ideas without making sure I was doing what You wanted. I repent for measuring the value of my idea by what I thought people’s response would be. I don’t want to live my life toiling and struggling and end up standing next to a pile of ashes. I want my life to exalt You. I will wait for You patiently, listen to hear Your voice, and obey You when You speak. I want the work I do to last, to bring You glory and to bless Your name. It does not matter to me whether the work is big or small in the eyes of man. I just want it to be Your work and not mine. I want it to be worship…
