You will come to realize, a lot of what you see happening is custom and tradition. It gives foundation to your relationship with God, but it does not enhance or sustain it. What happens if you don’t wear white on the first Sunday; if you don’t wear “Sunday clothes” to go to church or if you don’t bring your palms together and close your eyes when you pray? There are a lot of “religious practices” done because our parents got them from their parents and so on. They handed them down through generations. Why? Because someone who had a relationship with God did it and a custom or tradition was born. There is nothing wrong with doing these things but, you should not base your relationship with God on them.

1 Samuel 16:7 Take no notice of his looks or his height. He is not the one, for the Eternal One does not pay attention to what humans value. Humans only care about the external appearance, but the Eternal considers the inner character. (The Voice)

Pure communion builds your connection with God. You will develop a relationship with the Father, by worshipping, praying, and studying. Your bond with Him will govern how you respond because of what is in your heart, not by human requirements. As you fellowship with the Father, He changes your heart, your actions, and your reactions. Then the Holy Spirt leads what you do, as an act of worship. No one governs or regulates you. When you stand, bow, pray, weep, etc. is will be in response to a move of God inside of you. You will show outwardly what God is doing inwardly.

Please agree with me as I pray:

Father, I thank You for bringing me to the place where You ordain every expression of my worship. No one can regulate how I show my love for You. I came to You for instruction. Through our time spent together, You taught me ways to show You how much I love You and I thank You. You’ve shown me how to worship You in song, in dance, when standing, when sitting, by extending my hands, closing my eyes and so much more. You have also shown me how to worship you in my conversation and by my attitude as I am moved by You. I thank You, Father, for accepting my worship as long as it is sincere and pure.
