1 John 5:4
For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
Who or what is your faith in?
Are there days when you just don’t feel like an overcomer? The wonderful thing is, even though you may not feel like it, you are an overcomer. If you are born again, then your ability to overcome is not based on you, it is based on the Father and the faith you have in Him.
1 John 5:4-5 You see, every child of God overcomes the world, for our faith is the victorious power that triumphs over the world. 5 So who are the world conquerors, defeating its power? Those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God. (The Passion Translation)
Faith also not a feeling, it is a fact. According to your faith, though it is only the size of a mustard seed, you can move mountains. But you have to make sure your faith is in the Father and His will. Just hoping and even praying God will do something, because you want it, is not faith. God’s will is His word, and His word is His will; this is the foundation of your faith.
1 John 5:13-15 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God [which represents all that Jesus Christ is and does], so that you will know [with settled and absolute knowledge] that you [already] have eternal life. 14 This is the [remarkable degree of] confidence which we [as believers are entitled to] have before Him: that [a]if we ask anything according to His will, [that is, consistent with His plan and purpose] He hears us. 15 And if we know [for a fact, as indeed we do] that He hears and listens to us in whatever we ask, we [also] know [with settled and absolute knowledge] that we have [granted to us] the requests which we have asked from Him. (Amplified Bible)
This can be tricky sometimes because you may be able to find scriptures that substantiate your desire. Then you have to wait and see if what you want, is God’s will in the situation. You will see if He answers your prayer in the way you requested, or He requires you to align yourself with His will. You can and will overcome because He knows what’s best.
Please agree with me as I pray:
Father, I thank You because I am born of the Spirit, I have victory and I am and overcomer. I thank You for sealing truth in me, so I am not shaken when the enemy comes. Your word says even if my faith is as small as a mustard seed, I can speak to my mountains. I thank You for showing me Your will when my prayers and my desires do not line up. I thank You for continuing to draw me close, so I spend more time with You. It is during those times when You identify the things in my life that don’t line up with Your will. You are developing me, so I won’t quit because something did not go my way or simply because it’s inconvenient or uncomfortable for me. I am learning to embrace and accept Your will. I will not use my prayers and what I may have found in the word to try and come against Your power and authority. I have the faith to bring under subjection any thought, emotion or idea that exalts itself against You…
