As we read the devotional and pray, we want to hear what God is saying. We want to know how to apply the information to our lives. Wouldn’t it be great if our Heavenly Father would speak to us and tell us how to live the principles we learned? Yes is would and He will. The Bible tells us in John 10:27 “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” (KJV).

HEARING GOD’S VOICE
Habakkuk 2:1-2 I will climb my watchtower and wait to see what the Lord will tell me to say and what answer he[a] will give to my complaint. 2 The Lord gave me this answer: “Write down clearly on tablets what I reveal to you, so that it can be read at a glance. (Good News Translation)
Hearing God’s voice is as simple as:
- #1 – Quieting yourself down (stillness)
Go to a quiet place and still your thoughts and emotions. There is a deep inner knowing in our spirits that each of us can experience when we quiet our flesh and our minds. Practicing the art of biblical meditation helps silence the outer noise and distractions clamoring for our attention.
- #2 – Fixing your eyes on Jesus
As you pray, fix the eyes of your heart upon Jesus, seeing in the Spirit the dreams and visions of Almighty God.
- #3 – Tuning to spontaneity
Recognizing that God’s voice in your heart often sounds like a flow of spontaneous thoughts. Therefore, when you want to hear from God, you must tune to chance-encounter or spontaneous thoughts.
- #4 – Two-way journaling
Record the vision. This was not an isolated command. The Scriptures record many examples of individual’s prayers and God’s replies, such as the Psalms, many of the prophets, and Revelation. You can find that if you obey this final principle, you can amplify your confidence in your ability to hear God’s voice. You can even come to a place where you can make living out of God’s initiatives and instructions a way of life.
